Critiquing one another s work often gives you a perspective on your own photography that you might not have considered before. As photographers, we often get so invested in what we re doing that we fail to see some small things that can make a photo better. If another person can point this out to us, it can lead to some improvements in our work.

Be prepared to receive advice that you don't like, or don't agree with. If you receive what you think is bad comment, first think about the comment from their point of view. They may well just have a point. However, if you still don't agree, be polite and respectful or better don't reply. Never get into an arguing match with someone who doesn't share your opinion of your photo. It is, after all, only an opinion and everyone is entitled to their own.

Yes, I see your point. I meant the lines of the shore and the bush frame the people, but the waves do draw the attention. I wanted to include what they're seeing, but it doesn't serve as a 'frame'. Thanks!

Ah, I wasn't thinking too much about the title. I was planning to shoot the arch and doors when this little one appeared in the picture, and I didn't quite get her while she was in the middle. I went with it because I think the frame of the arch and what's inside are still the first things my eye is drawn towards, but I liked having this little surprise in the corner that you find if you follow the lines of the arch. The focus was still supposed to be the architecture, with the kid to enliven it a bit. But I can see how it might not fit the theme.

Sky, Sea, Sand

Does it count as framing if the ends are open?

Well, maybe, but in my opinion this is a naturally looking landscape shot. Most of the landscape shots are framed by the sky and land, i.e. that's a natural condition. You didn't do an extra step finding objects that could help to enhance the image by framing. That's my opinion and I might be wrong, of course.

Well, if you really like this shot and want to work on it, I would darken the structure and lighten the subject.

Guess what his job is

I would hope the title would explain what his job is, but he might be at the hotel front desk. In terms of framing, not sure the arch on the right is a frame, since it's too bright and my eyes go there. Should be the other way around. Nevertheless, this is an interesting shot.

It's a good shot. In terms of framing - not sure. The hand is a subject here, not a frame, in my opinion.

There is a story in this image, which is good. I am not sure that the shadow in the foreground is interesting enough to take a third of the image. I would also crop people on the left and the right who do not add interest to the image.

Not sure it's a good angle for the Arrow. The Ferry terminal building is in frame, but it's not a subject, so it just distracts from the Arrow, in my opinion.

Thanks for the constructive feedback. I'll give your suggestions a whirl between now and Monday. Your feedback also triggered some other ideas about emphasizing the subject framing.

Good framing. Interesting shadows that actually serve as leading lines. I like that you can see some details on the walls and through the opening you can also see the structures of Fort Point.

I wasn't sure where to crop this for framing. I'm getting to know LR and haven't learned to overrule the 2x3 and 5x7.

Digging the mixed elements of nature vs manmade, especially when the contrast is so stark. Oh... and nice work on the framing.
