Critiquing one another's work often leads to a new perspective on your own photography that you might not have considered before. As photographers, we often get so invested in what we're doing that we fail to see some of the small things that can make a photo better. If another person can point this out to us, it can lead to improvements in our work.
Be prepared to receive advice that you don't like, or don't agree with. If you receive what you think is a bad comment- first, think about the comment from their point of view. They may well just have a point. However, if you still don't agree, be polite and respectful, or better yet- don't reply. Never get into an arguing match with someone who doesn't share your opinion of your photo. It is, after all, only an opinion and everyone is entitled to their own.

I don't think the little leaf at the bottom provides balance, but the space taken up by elevating the flowers to where they are is important for balance. |

Good idea. The bright spot in the upper left is distracting; you might want to darken the edges. |

Nice catch; try cropping out the left side to make the dog and lady larger and the focus point; leave a little space to the right of the dog (right at the dog's shadow in the sand) so it shows the dog and lady are running towards you. |

Good fog. You might want to darken the edges and get a little more detail in the top.You might want to pick what it is that you want the viewer to look at (the branches against the sky? the crossing patterns in the center?) and try to drive the viewer's eye to that point (using lighting, color and sharpening, perhaps) |

I've seen a lot of "through the cafe glass" photos where the subject clearly doesn't know they are being photographed, and that's a part of the story. I really enjoy the engagement of the subjects and the photographer in this image, not just because it's different from most of the others, but you get a lot of emotion from your four subjects. I'm sure you wish the green blobs on the gentleman's nose weren't there, but perhaps they add to the charm. |

I think the trail at the left top of the mountain might be interesting so try to pull out the details from there and crop portions of the right side (maybe 25%) to make your trail (only the portion in the light with the curve tell the story. |

Are you trying to show light beams? If so, play with dehazing and contrast, lighten and shadows. |

Good light. Cut off stuff on the right and bottom to get the stone out of the center and make the valley/cloud combination more noticeable. Burn the edges. |

You might want to try lightening the (somewhat light) branches in the upper left, to make a counterpoint to the falls and rock. The rock looks hard to move, but cropping it may put it in greater balance with the falls and the bright bush. |

Good color. I like the row of posts. Maybe burn the edges. You've got the bright spot very centered, which you can get away with on this image (you're being peaceful here, not dynamic). There's maybe too much not doing much space on the sides. |

Thanks for the compliments. The only adjustment made was the white balance. I typically do a lot of post processing but I felt this was too good to be altered. I am sure other photographers would massage things here and there but I mostly like it as it is. :-) |
Wave Breaking on Rock - Land's End - San Francisco
I like the wave focused directly on the rock. Marin County is in the background. Taken in the late afternoon of an unusually clear February day after many days of rain.

Nice wave catch, excellent detail. You might want it less centered. |

Oh, and the sailboat is lost. I didn't notice it was there until I looked at the title. Try dodging masking it a bit, or maybe even lighten the entire image. But that could get tricky. |
